Growth and wisdom
As christian women, wives & mothers we should always be growing in these gifts the Lord has given us! When you are a pastors wife you have one more gift from the Lord to be growing in :)
When my hubby and I got married I never thought he would be a pastor, not that I thought he wouldn't be a good one, I just didn't see that in our future. One of the reasons is because I didn't believe I had the so called "requirements" ( playing piano, bold personality, etc.) to be a good pastors wife. I had also seen women in these positions abuse it by being judgemental, arrogant, clicky, bossy, etc. and also being judged, gossiped about, left out, etc. and their children being treated the same way by others in and out of their church. Well, the Lord had a different path and that is exactly what my hubby is and I am the pastors wife!
Know in some church's the pastors wife is right up there with him and has her own special calling and is even a pastor herself, that's not where we stand and I myself am very thankful, with my personality and how the Lord made me I would not do well!
I am called to be behind the curtain, which means I am here to support, love, guide, build him up, encourage him, be his cheerleader and much more, which all adds up to being what I have been for almost 27 years, his wife!! When you put on a play if the curtain man or behind the scenes director doesn't do their job the play is a mess, things do not run well, issues arise, etc. that is exactly what happens if a pastors wife is not doing her job behind the scenes.
I will say though, that even if you are behind the scenes you always have those who will judge and have their opinions and all you can do is stay faithful to what the Lord has called you to do and that is stand behind your man and pray for him and your family!!!
With that being said, I started this book by: Nancy Wilson, which I cannot believe I haven't found it before now (16 years of being a pastors wife) but, I would encourage pastors wives whether they are new or even been doing this for a long time (a good reminder) to read! so far I have really enjoyed it. She is very practical, wise and encouraging!!
Have a blessed day!
